The greatest indicator of future success is the way we think. Our thoughts shape our reality. When we expect good things to happen in our lives, they are more likely to happen.
There are three ways to change our reality:
1. Decluttering our minds sows seeds into our lives.
Reality is often shaped by what we think. What consumes our minds is what we establish before we even speak.
When we think about what pleases God, we create what God has purposed for us. The reality of our thoughts is not rooted in positive psychology, but in what God has told us to do from the start.
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things”. Philippians 4:8
What we meditate upon sprouts out from our mind and into our lives. If fear is a dominant emotion in our mind, it settles into our reality. It’s an emotion that can often be seen without being verbally expressed.
Anxious singers can be heard, without pausing to tell the audience that they are nervous. Attentive listeners can tell when singers are nervous without being told.
2. Declutter how you communicate, and create a different reality.
Life began with a word. As our Creator spoke the words in Genesis 1:3: “Let there be light”. So did a new reality start to take shape from heaven to earth, as darkness and light took tangible forms.
Our very own words carry light or darkness. What we speak with our own mouths creates something. We get to decide each day what our words create in life.
Unforgiveness leads to harsh communication.
Unforgiveness is the doorway to undesired outcomes. Satan uses unforgiveness to hold others captive in his prison. Identifying the culprit is part of moving forward. But the invisible culprit can cause one to misdirect their words towards those who did them no harm.
How to heal the way we communicate?
If we seek healing from a harsh past, we have to replace what happened with what we want to see. Healing is the manifestation of belief, before we receive what we prayed for in the physical realm. Sometimes sickness stays longer than it should because of what we believe.
Forgiveness leads to good communication.
Forgiveness is not a feeling, but an expressed word in the midst of turmoil. As Christ Jesus hung on the cross, he audibly expressed, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do” Luke 23:34. When you are healed, you forgive. And darkness cannot get hold of our lives because we are filled with light.
3. The right behavior is established when we are full of light.
True purpose is established when we recognize that darkness cannot take hold of us when we have light.
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.” Revelation 21:23
In this world, darkness and light coexist so that we can choose which way we want to go each day. As human beings, we have the choice to decide which path we choose to follow. It might not be easy for most of us, but at some point, we have to choose, as time will not always be on our side.

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
