In a land with so many minerals.
It’s the richest continent by far.
Yet, it relies on foreign aid to survive.
Who made Africa the poor widow?
It might be the kings who sold the people
To enslave them to the West for 400 years.
Who made everyone believe that Africa is for sale?
The corrupt sell the people for dollars, euros, pounds and yuan.
But never invest the loot to develop Africa.
An expression of theories reek in universities corridors
Like an absolute thumb of law— never to change anytime.
Dare to oppose authority and you will be chased to exile.
In all the bags we carry, it’s an education that’s not ours.
In all the wealth we can’t account for, we have lost lives.
In all the poor faces shown on music videos, we live daily.
Our hope is not in the United Nations’ call to end poverty.
Our hope is not in the World Health Organization to heal us.
Our hope is not in the billionaires of the world to educate us.
Our deserved right is in receiving our long overdue payment.
Our tears have not fallen for being in foster care to all nations.
Our birthright is erased by a perpetuated lie of being barbaric.
When will Africa be paid for its wealth?
